You walk into a building every day. Your lecture hall, your part-time job, your student house. But do you actually know what goes on behind the scenes? The installations, the condition of the roof, fire safety. That is what we figure out. During your internship, we show you what this looks like in practice.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐞 𝐝𝐨.

Ausems Vastgoed is a technical real estate consultancy and management firm in Arnhem. We help owners of offices, commercial properties, and social real estate keep a grip on their buildings. Our work falls into five areas of expertise.

• Advice. We inspect buildings and map out their condition, for example through a technical due diligence (TDD) before a building is sold, or with a multi-year maintenance plan (MJOP) that shows what maintenance is needed in the coming years.
• Management. We handle the daily technical and administrative management of buildings. We monitor installations via building management systems and intervene before a tenant even notices anything.
•Sustainability. We translate new regulations such as the EPBD, BREEAM, and CRREM into concrete plans. This enables an owner to know which step has an impact and when.
• Fire safety. We test buildings against regulations and translate shortcomings into measures and costs.
• Project management. We maintain control over maintenance and sustainability projects, from preparation to delivery.

𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠.

An internship at Ausems is not a desk job with random tasks. You participate in real work. Deniz studied Real Estate Studies at Saxion and spent four months with our management team. He drew up contracts, went on-site visits all over the Netherlands, and spoke with tenants and suppliers. Jordi studied Construction Engineering at HAN and worked in the advisory department on TDD inspections and MJOPs. His internship assignment was improving our building passport. We now actually use that with clients. Both remained involved with Ausems after their internship.

That is what we mean by participating. You get responsibility, you sometimes make mistakes, and you deliver something that we and our clients can actually use.

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐮𝐬.

We are a recognized training company and regularly supervise interns. You get a dedicated supervisor who thinks along with you about your assignment and your learning goals.

Our team is open and non-hierarchical. Everyone sits together, and you work alongside colleagues who just graduated and colleagues with more than twenty years of experience. We work from a sustainably redeveloped office in the center of Arnhem. We have lunch together every day and regularly work out with each other. We don't just talk about good employment practices. We practice them.

You study real estate management, construction engineering, installation technology, or a related field. More important than your education is your work attitude:

• You are curious about how buildings are put together.
• You work meticulously and love keeping an overview.
• You ask questions and take the initiative.
• You can explain your findings clearly, both on paper and in conversation.
• You do not need to know everything yet. That is what an internship is for.
